Why a bookkeeping firm runs investigations.

Because most of what an investigator is asked to find sits in financial records, entity filings and transaction histories.

Locating a person is a database exercise. Understanding whether they are collectible, where the money went, which company succeeded the one that closed, or whether a transfer moved an asset out of reach — that is financial work. It requires reading a balance sheet, following an entity chain, recognising a related-party payment, and knowing what an ownership structure is designed to obscure.

That is the same skill set we apply to a set of books. Our founder worked as a Tax Enforcement Officer for the Texas Comptroller, holds an ACFE membership, and is completing a Master of Science in Accountancy with certifications in taxation and forensic accounting. The investigative division exists because clients kept asking financial questions that a standard investigator could research but not interpret.

We work for attorneys, collection agencies, judgment creditors, lenders, factoring companies, insurers, businesses and individuals — always for a lawful, authorised purpose, and always with written findings a client can act on.

Mint Associates Investigative Services performs investigations only for lawful purposes and subject to applicable federal and state laws, licensing requirements, privacy restrictions, permissible-purpose requirements, and the terms of the client engagement. Investigative results are based on information available through lawful sources and are not guaranteed to identify every asset, person, liability or fact.

Investigative findings are not legal conclusions unless separately provided by appropriately licensed legal counsel. Mint Associates does not determine whether a transfer is legally fraudulent, does not make alter-ego determinations, and does not provide legal advice. We develop and document facts for authorised clients and their counsel.

Forensic bookkeeping investigation is a targeted review of records and transactions. It is not an audit, and it is not represented as one. Availability of any service is subject to lawful purpose, scope, jurisdiction and applicable licensing.
