When Is Form 1065 Due?
Calendar-year Form 1065 is generally due March 15 and can generally be extended on Form 7004.
How it works
The rule, and what it turns on.
IRC §6698 can impose a per-partner, per-month late filing penalty even when no income tax is due at entity level.
Example
A four-partner partnership waiting on records should file Form 7004 before the original deadline.
Common mistakes
What we see go wrong, and what we do instead.
- Assuming no tax means no penalty.
A better approach
- Extend whenever records or lower-tier K-1s may be late.
